About
Andrew is a senior executive of 30+ years’ experience: consultant, chief of staff, chief executive, and board chair. More recently, Andrew was a senior member of staff at UNSW Canberra as group manager, UNSW Canberra Public Leadership Research Group-John Howard Prime Ministerial Library (January 2016 – March 2023). He was a former chief of staff and senior adviser in the Howard Government.
He holds an undergraduate degree in government and postgraduate qualifications in business and international relations. In 2012 he was awarded a Fulbright Professional Scholarship in Australia-US Alliance Studies that he used to conduct research at the University of Texas at Austin into off-grid energy solutions.
He is a contributing author to several books analysing the ‘Howard years’ and is co-editor (with Professor David Lovell) of The Art of Coalition: The Howard Government Experience, 1996-2007 (UNSW Press, Sydney, 2022). He is also editor, John Howard: From the Pavilion – Shaping the Ascent to Power (Connor Court Publishing, 2023).
Andrew is currently researching the role and effectiveness of think tanks in the development of public policy through a professional doctorate at UNSW Canberra. He lectures in power and politics at the Australian Defence Force Academy and is host of the podcast ‘Advancing AUKUS’. Andrew has been admitted as a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
